The 115th season of the Estonian National Opera has opened with the Vana Tallinn Gala, which was dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the birth of composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky and featured performances from mezzo-soprano Juuli Lill, baritone Tamar Nugis, violinist Mari Poll, clarinetist Edmunds Altmanis, bass Ain Angeri, tenor Juhan Tralla, soprano Mirjam Mesaki (Bavarian State Opera) and other young Estonian singers.
The 14th “Vana Tallinn Grand Prix 2019” competition for sommeliers in the Baltic States was held this weekend in Riga. Late last night the winner of the Vana Tallinn Baltic Sommelier Grand Prix was determined after tight competition at the Kadriorg Art Museum to be Ronalds Pētersons from Latvia. The second place went to Martynas Pravilonis from Lithuania and the third to Ketri Leis from Estonia. The young sommelier title was awarded to Helen Aasmann from Estonia.
