The Best Sommelier in the Baltic States is Ronalds Pētersons from Latvia

Late last night the winner of the Vana Tallinn Baltic Sommelier Grand Prix was determined after tight competition at the Kadriorg Art Museum to be Ronalds Pētersons from Latvia. The second place went to Martynas Pravilonis from Lithuania and the third to Ketri Leis from Estonia. The young sommelier title was awarded to Helen Aasmann from Estonia.

Martynas Pravilonis from Lithuania Awarded again as Best Sommelier of the Baltics

On Saturday, September 30th, 2017 the Vana Tallinn Baltic Sommelier Grand Prix took place in Vilnius. The competition winner was the Swedish guest competitor Fredrik Lindfors. The best sommelier of the Baltic States was again Martynas Pravilonis from Lithuania who received the same honour in 2016. Els Maria Uibo from Estonia took second place in the tight finals and Estonia’s Best Sommelier 2017 Ketri Leis took third place. The best young sommelier was Silvija Umaraite from Lithuania.

The best Baltic sommelier is Kristjan Peäske from Estonia

Late on Saturday evening in Tartu, Estonia at the Vana Tallinn Grand Prix 2011, Kristjan Peäske of Estonia was declared the Best Baltic Sommelier and was awarded a wine trip worth €1000 courtesy of AS Liviko. Kristjan Markii of Estonia won second place and Liora Levi of Norway came third. This year, for the first time, competitors from Scandinavia also participated in the Vana Tallinn Grand Prix.

„The competition was very tough. I did not expect to win. The level of Nordic sommeliers is close to the top of the world and including them in the competition shows that we are able to compete at an international level outside of the Baltic states,“ said the winner of Vana Tallinn Grand Prix 2011 Kristjan Peäske, one of the owners of the restaurant Leib, Resto ja Aed.
